NPI-National Provider Identifier
HIPAA regulations will eventually require submission of claims using NPI number as a provider identifier. The regulation has not taken effect, but in preparing for this transition Encore is currently accepting NPI numbers from all participating providers. NPI numbers should be submitted in writing on provider letterhead or other identifiable document.

Encore will be passing your NPI number to our payors by the regulation effective date.
It is important that you continue to submit claims for Encore members utilizing your current tax identification number. When repricing claims Encore will need to be able to tie your current identifier to your NPI to avoid delays. Any questions concerning submitting your NPI to Encore should be directed to Encore Customer Service at 1-888-446-5844.
